A Journey Through Overwhelm: What Helped Me Reset

One of the hardest steps is recognizing the need for change.

For me, that moment came after a long period of physical and emotional exhaustion. I found myself stuck in a cycle of anxiety, tension, and feeling constantly “on,” as if my system didn’t know how to switch off.

Reaching out for support was not easy, but it became one of the most important decisions I made.

Working with a therapist helped me begin to understand what I was experiencing and gave me space to process it. At the same time, I realized I also needed to address how these patterns were showing up in my body.

That’s when I began exploring different approaches beyond talk-based support.

Over time, I found that combining different practices made a meaningful difference.

Some of the approaches I explored included:

• Reiki
• Bodywork
• Acupuncture
• Breathwork
• EMDR
• EFT
• Yoga
• Somatic-based practices

What I learned

There isn’t a single path that works for everyone.

What matters is finding what helps you feel more regulated, more aware, and more connected to yourself.

Healing—or simply feeling better—is not linear. Some approaches will resonate more than others, and that’s part of the process.

A few things that helped me

• Starting small
• Staying consistent
• Being open to trying different approaches
• Allowing myself to adjust when something didn’t feel right

Final thoughts

If you’re feeling stuck in a cycle that doesn’t seem to shift, you’re not alone.

Change doesn’t happen all at once, but small steps can begin to create a different experience over time.
